About The Bridge of Lights

The Bridge of Lights is a permanent digital memorial - a bridge of one million candle slots where anyone can place a light for someone they've lost. Each candle costs £1, with optional add-ons: a coloured flame, a favourite song, or a printable certificate.

It was built on a simple idea: grief deserves a place on the internet that isn't a social media post that scrolls away. Every candle on the bridge is permanent. Every name stays lit. The bridge holds one million spaces; once they are all lit, no more are added, and the ones already there stay where they are.

The Founder

I created Bridge of Lights after losing family and friends close to me. It's a space where we can all celebrate and remember the people who've meant so much to us - sharing their stories, their impact, the way they shaped our lives. Ten pence from every pound goes to UK bereavement charities. Wherever you are, there's a place here for the people you've loved and lost.

Our Mission

Grief doesn't have a place on the internet. It gets lost in the noise. We built The Bridge of Lights to give it one.

The Bridge of Lights exists because people deserve more than a Facebook post that disappears. More than a memorial page with adverts next to it. More than a plastic bench with a fading plaque. This is a permanent place for the people who shaped us — built to last, designed to be quiet, and priced so that anyone can afford it.

Press Statements

On Content & Moderation

The Bridge of Lights allows anyone to memorialise someone they've lost. We don't judge who deserves commemoration - a mother, a friend, a pet, a public figure. All are welcome here.

Every candle message is reviewed by automated moderation (using Google's Perspective API) and, where necessary, by our team manually. We remove content that contains hate speech, abuse, threats, or deliberately offensive material. We do not remove content simply because the person being memorialised is controversial.

Our moderation policy is simple: the bridge is for grief, not for harm.

On Permanence

When we say "permanent", we mean it. Every candle purchased is intended to remain on the bridge for as long as the service operates. We have no plans to remove, expire, or archive any memorial. The bridge is designed to outlast its founders.

We are a registered UK company (Harri Digital Ltd, Company No. 17032672), with data stored securely and backed up daily.

On Privacy

The Bridge of Lights does not use advertising, does not sell user data, and does not use client-side tracking beyond basic analytics (with consent). The only personal data we collect is the email address used at checkout - this is used solely to deliver the candle receipt and is never used for marketing.
